October 2020 new van sales
Statistics released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have revealed impressive levels of year on year growth for the UK new van market in October 2020, with a total of 28,753 new vans registered last month. Large vans led the growth with an increase of 26.8% over September 2019 figures, whilst medium vans and smalls also grew by 2.9% and 1.6% respectively. There was a dip in pickup registrations, falling 31.8% last month.

10. Citroen Relay
The biggest van in the Citroen vans range, the Citroen Relay is available in no fewer than four van lengths and three van heights. There are also four heavily equipped trim levels to choose from: X, Enterprise, Driver and Worker. A total of 922 new Citroen Relay vans were registered in October 2020.
9. Citroen Berlingo
From the biggest van in the Citroen vans range to the smallest, the Citroen Berlingo is a multi-award-winning small van and is available in two lengths with payloads up to one-tonne. Trim levels mirror those of the Relay large van: X, Enterprise, Driver and Worker, aimed at different types of van users. A total of 1,034 new Citroen Berlingo vans were registered in October 2020.
8. Volkswagen Crafter
The largest van in the iconic Volkswagen vans range, the VW Crafter is one of the most technologically advanced vans on the market today and is available in three lengths as well as front and rear wheel drive with manual and automatic transmissions. There is also a choice of Startline and Trendline trim levels. A total of 1,208 new Volkswagen Crafter vans were registered in October 2020.
7. Peugeot Boxer
Almost identical to the Citroen Relay van above, the Peugeot Boxer is a large van renowned for carrying the biggest and heaviest of loads. Like the Relay van, the Boxer is available in four lengths, three heights and four trim levels. A total of 1,328 new Peugeot Boxer vans were registered in October 2020.
6. Vauxhall Combo
Built alongside the Citroen Berlingo van above as well as the Peugeot Partner, the multi-award-winning Vauxhall Combo is the smallest van in the Vauxhall van range and is offered in three highly equipped trim levels: Edition, Sportive and Limited Edition Nav, perfect for tradespeople who don’t need all of the carrying capability that a medium van brings. A total of 1,633 new Vauxhall Combo vans were registered in October 2020.
5. Volkswagen Transporter
A massively iconic medium van, the Volkswagen Transporter requires little in the form of an introduction. The latest version badged the Transporter T6.1 is available in two lengths and heights as well as Startline and Highline trim levels. A total of 1,899 new Volkswagen Transporter vans were registered in October 2020.
4. Vauxhall Vivaro
The best of British Vauxhall Vivaro van recently parted ways with the Renault Trafic van and is now built alongside the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert vans and now offers class leading levels of efficiency and payload. Unlike the Dispatch and Expert vans which are offered in three lengths, the Vauxhall Vivaro van is available in two lengths, both of which offer enough space for three Europallets and an 8x4 sheet. A total of 1,923 new Vauxhall Vivaro vans were registered in October 2020.
3. Ford Transit
When you think of large white vans, the Ford Transit van is usually the first van which comes into your mind. The Ford Transit may have been around for more than 50 years however its popularity has shown no signs of waning. The latest facelift means the Ford Transit van now features mild hybrid technology for the very first time. A total of 2,135 new Ford Transit vans were registered in October 2020.
2. Mercedes Sprinter
The largest van in the luxurious Mercedes vans range, large vans don’t come much more advanced than the iconic Mercedes Sprinter van, which also offers a driving experience most of its rivals can only dream of. Now available in three trim levels: Pure, Progressive and Premium, there is a Mercedes Sprinter for everyone’s requirements. A total of 2,475 new Mercedes Sprinter vans were registered in October 2020.
